Exciting news! Amy is scheduled to appear on NBC’s Grimm in the New Year as an ordinary housewife, who also happens to be the Black Widow. A few additional details are below, courtesy of TVLine. I’ll be sure to keep you guys up-to-date as the airdate gets closer.
Sources confirm exclusively to TVLine that NBC’s freshman thriller has cast Angel and Dollhouse alum Amy Acker as the fearsome Black Widow.
Just how fearsome is she?
Well, most of the time, not at all — she’s Lena, your run-of-the-mill happy housewife. But, because she suffers from rapid-aging syndrome — wait, that’s not just a soap opera thing? — every five years, she has to leech the life out of three guys in three short days in order to maintain her appearance.
Big news today!
Apparently, Joss Whedon has secretly made a film; his interpretation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing — and Amy is playing the lead of Beatrice, opposite Alexis Denisof! There are also a host of other familiar names, including Sean Maher; Nathan Fillion (Firefly), Fran Kranz; Reed Diamond (Dollhouse) and Tom Lenk (Buffy).
According to the Official Website and it’s press release, the film was shot in black & white over 12 days on location in Santa Monica. Principle photography has been completed and the film should be fully completed by Spring 2012 with the aim of heading for the [film] festival circuit.
Amy posted on her official Twitter a few days ago to let us know that she is currently filming a new movie in Calgary, Canada, for a few weeks titled Dear Santa — a Christmas comedy — and as a result, sadly isn’t able to attend the ‘Echo 2’ convention in the UK this week.
Amy also stated that she’s still waiting to hear if her new series, Common Law, has been picked up.
Exciting news! Looks like we may have some new material coming our way soon!
EDIT: (April 28) According to IMDB, Amy’s character is called Crystal & the movie has an expected USA release date of December 1, 2011.
Good news! Several sources are reporting that Amy has signed up for a new TV pilot for USA Network; a buddy cop dramedy titled Common Law — and playing the only female regular role as the therapist — some details are below. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on this!
Whedon-vet Amy Acker (“Angel”, “Dollhouse”) has joined the cast of the new USA network buddy cop dramedy “Common Law”, according to Deadline.
The show, which stars Michael Ealy (“Sleeper Cell”) and Warren Kole (“24”), centers on ”polar opposite LAPD homicide detectives Wes Mitchell (Kole) and Travis Marks (Ealy) whose constant bickering prompts their captain to send them to couples counseling”.
Acker, whose last TV gig was in the short-lived “Happy Town” for ABC, will play the therapist on the show. Film wise, she next appears in the Whedon produced “Cabin in the Woods”.
A quick glance at Amy’s IMDB profile showed that Amy has filmed a guest spot on Crime Scene Investigation (aka CSI) which shall be airing on January 6, 2011 on CBS so be sure to check your local listings for the times!
The episode, 11×11, is titled ‘Man Up’ and Amy’s character is called Sandy Colfax, but sadly, Amy doesn’t seem to be featured in any of the promotional stills that have been released. However, we’ll be sure to add screencaptures shortly after the episode has aired.
There may be an upcoming upcoming guest appearance/recurring role from Amy to look forward to! If this is true, it would reunite Amy with her Angel co-star, Julie Benz, on the new ABC series No Ordinary Family. How exciting! Here’s hoping we’ll get further news or details soon.
Article posted below, courtesy of Cinema Blend.
If you caught the first episode of ABC’s new family drama series No Ordinary Family and are looking forward to more, you may want to keep an eye out for Amy Acker. Word is, the former Angel star is going to be on the series.
Romany Malco, who plays Michael Chiklis’ character Jim’s friend George St. Cloud on the series (and you might recognize him from Weeds or 40 Year Old Virgin), posted the following tweet tonight [September 29]:
If UV seen NOF you’ll be happy to know that hottie @AmyAcker will be working w / George St. Cloud!
We haven’t seen anything official from ABC on this news yet, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for confirmation and more details. As far as Malco’s tweet, does “working with” mean job related? Or perhaps she’ll get involved in George’s part in Jim’s new role as a moonlighting superhero. Either way, if it’s true, I love it! And not to get too Buffy-geek here but this will be a Whedonverse collision as NoF’s Julie Benz was also in Angel.
In addition to her roles in Angel, Alias and Dollhouse, Acker was also among the cast of ABC’s Happy Town.
No Ordinary Family airs Tuesday nights at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
Exciting news! It looks like Amy may be currently filming a new project — I did wonder since Amy has posted on her official Twitter that she’s in Texas (from April 30) as well as a lovely pic with Tony Hale & the tweet regarding a night shoot.
Also, IMDB has the project listed on Amy’s resume, albeit rumoured, and offers the following synopsis:
A singer-songwriter beat up by the L.A. music machine who moves with his wife to Sironia, Texas.
So, for now, I shall add this project to the sidebar & hopefully we’ll have further confirmation and/or information regarding this project later on.
Thanks to my good friend Riikka for the heads up! Amy is listed as a guest (with further guests pending) for the upcoming UK convention titled Echo 2 for fans of Dollhouse — you may remember that she was scheduled to attend last year but had to drop out at the last minute, which we later learned was due to filming her small part on The Cabin in the Woods.
The convention is due to take place on 1-3 April, 2011 in Heathrow, England.
The worlds second scheduled unofficial three day convention for fans of Joss Whedon’s DOLLHOUSE featuring:
• guest talks
• photo and autograph sessions
• and much more

Exciting news! Amy has revealed on her Twitter that as well as looking forward to the upcoming premiere for Happy Town, Amy will also be guest starring on the season finale of The Good Wife, alongside her husband, James Carpinello — marking their first appearance on screen together!
At the moment, it is unclear which episode Amy will be guest starring in — although it does look to be episode 23, which is airing on May 25, 2010 — and whether she’ll share scenes with her husband, so be sure to check back for further information as it becomes available.
